Col Crawford Holden announced as primary sponsor for 2012 season!

Col Crawford, a long term supporter of rugby on the northern beaches, has teamed up with Holden to be the primary sponsor of Newport junior rugby for the 2012 season.

With new models launching across the Holden range in 2012, Col Crawford Holden is looking forward to a fun and successful season with Newport.

R.I.P. Stephen Jones

Stephen Jones passed away on 2 December - age 58 years. Stephen was a coach with Newport Juniors from 1993 and around 2000 stood down as head coach and took on a more assistant type role. He was a very gentle man who had an absolute passion for rugby. He himself played a test match for Australia V New Zealand. He is survived by his wife Rosemary and 3 children Nicole, Simon & Ben.

As is tradition with the Newport U14s Fiji Tour we are collecting all used and unwanted Rugby gear to donate to the locals whilst on tour and to
help put some BIG smiles on our Fiji brothers’ faces.

We need the following gear in good and clean condition (especially no muddy boots) as Fiji has a strict quarantine laws similar to our own:

- Boots (good condition and clean)
- Shoulder pads / Head gear
- Shorts / Socks / Jerseys / Training Shirts

Grand Final Victory U/10 Newport Barracudas

U10 Barracudas

On Sunday the 28th of August, Scott Dalton coached the Newport Baracudda’s Under 10’s side to a victory which was only sealed in the dying seconds of the game.

The first half saw tries to the lightening quick winger, the silent assassin Guy Binns and the front rower captain Lachlan Warrener, who led his troops with the passion of Alexander The Great.

The second half became a dog fight with both teams surging to all parts of the field with ferocious defence before the 2011 Baracudda player’s player Jackson Upton started an upfield charge, which was supported by his pack of hunting pigs with relentless drive before the match was sealed with a try to Digby Dalton who is without a doubt pound for pound the toughest Barracudda in the land!

Seconds later the siren sounded and Jackson Upton didn’t even need to take the conversion with scenes of joy reminiscent of a Wallabies World Cup Triumph!

The coaches Rocky Balboa Game Plan had been executed to perfection !
